HORSE TRUCK DRIVER
Tasmania to Victoria

Horse Truck Driver operating from Tasmania to Victoria and return on the Spirit of Tasmania.

Key Attributes:

  • Full time position, based on 38 hours but working the hours needed to complete the set tasks. 

  • Minimum MR license, HR preferred.

  • Polite, courteous and flexible.

  • Experienced, caring horse person with attention to detail. Capable of leading, loading and unloading horses.

  • Meticulously careful driver who looks after our gear and our precious cargo with a clean driving record.

  • Able to use technology needed, following GPS and using a phone app for addresses and contact information.

  • Able to use a NHVR work diary and be aware of regulations required to adhere to.

  • Willing to help with all other tasks as required which include but are not limited to cleaning stables/yards, washing and maintaining trucks, general horse care.

  • Well presented passionate ambassador for our company with good communication skills.

  • A fun passionate team member who can work well in a team environment or equally well independently.

  • This role is paid an hourly rate based on hours worked, and a living away from home allowance. Remuneration personally negotiated.

About the role:

This position involves driving a company supplied rigid truck in Tasmania and Victoria, with trips across to Victoria and return on the Spirit of Tasmania each week as well as local work in Tasmania and local work in Victoria whilst travelling in that state. Usually, the trips to Victoria involve 2 nights

away, over on the ship one night and returning the following night (from time to time an extra night if needed) and usually weekdays. This is subject to change by negotiation from time to time. Details of each day are under direction from the manager and may change as and when needed.

The driver will be provided with a run sheet each day for the following day which has scheduled pick mups and deliveries with times. These details have been communicated to clients. The driver must call the client 30 minutes before each stop and keep them and the manager updated if times need to change.

Our horses care and the upkeep of our modern fleet of trucks is what makes our business successful, horse care and truck care must always be front of mind in any situation.

We are a close knit team who hold our horses care in the highest regard and strive to offer a prompt exceptional service. Our business is family-owned and managed, we have trucks travelling from Tas to Vic and return a few times each week and locally in Tasmania and Victoria. We also have a weekly trip from Victoria to Queensland and return. Our business has 2 private stopovers in Lower Barrington, Tasmania and Avalon, Victoria where we also have trucks based.
