About the role:

This position involves driving a company supplied rigid truck from QLD to Victoria on a weekly basis. The truck begins the trip from South East QLD and meets another of our trucks to swap horses (usually southern NSW or northern VIC), before returning to South East QLD, details of the trip are under direction from the manager and may change as and when needed.

A usual trip will travel from Buccan QLD south towards Tamworth/Scone via the New England Highway to Newcastle then Sydney and Victoria via the Hume Highway. We usually only travel to the Toowoomba and Brisbane areas with horses needing to travel to/from places outside these areas being bought in to or taken away from our depot in Buccan, just near Brisbane. From Victoria pick ups and deliveries are supported by our Victorian and Tasmanian based trucks.

Usually a 5 day trip, 4 nights away. As well as driving where directed the driver will need to care for the horses at their stopovers, ensuring they are healthy, secure and have food and water. Each stopover the driver will need to send a photo and update to each animals owner. Accommodation can be negotiated, usually 2 nights staying in the truck and 2 nights in a motel.

The driver will be provided with a run sheet each day for the following day which has scheduled pick ups and deliveries with times. These details have been communicated to clients. The driver must call the client 30 minutes before each stop and keep them and the manager updated if times need to change.
